Black Flags Raised During Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Raebareli

Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra faced opposition in Raebareli as black flags were waved during the procession. The yatra, currently in its 38th day, started from Fursantganj in Amethi and proceeded towards Raebareli and Lucknow on Tuesday.

Protest with Black Flags

As Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra moved through Raebareli, two individuals on a building terrace raised black flags in protest. The act was accompanied by the sound of sirens. Raebareli, historically a Congress stronghold, holds significance as it was the political bastion for former Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Congress Bastion and Political Significance

Raebareli has been a crucial constituency for the Congress party, represented by Sonia Gandhi before her move to Rajya Sabha this year. Earlier, Indira Gandhi, the former prime minister, also represented Raebareli. Sonia Gandhi has consistently won from Raebareli since 2004 and remained the sole Congress winner in Uttar Pradesh during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’s Route

The Congress’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ is part of the party’s larger ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ covering 6,700 km across 15 states in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha polls. The yatra entered Uttar Pradesh on February 16 through Varanasi, reaching Amethi on February 19 via Bhadohi, Prayagraj, and Pratapgarh. The ongoing route includes Unnao, Kanpur, Jhansi, and further into Madhya Pradesh.

Political Significance of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra

The yatra aims to engage with the public and build political momentum ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The hybrid bus-foot march is strategically planned to cover key constituencies and regions, reinforcing the party’s presence and agenda. Despite facing opposition in Raebareli, the yatra remains a crucial element in the Congress’s pre-election strategy.

Upcoming Route and Schedule

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is scheduled to reach Unnao from Lucknow on February 21, continuing its journey through Kanpur, Jhansi, and entering Madhya Pradesh. The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh is intensifying as various parties gear up for the upcoming elections, making Rahul Gandhi’s yatra a noteworthy event in the current political narrative.
