Brijbhushan Sharan Singh to Sit Out Elections: BJP Mulls Over Replacement for Kaiserganj Seat

With the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 approaching on May 20, the spotlight turns to Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat, where BJP is yet to announce its candidate. Amidst this uncertainty, reports suggest that Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, a prominent MP, might not be contesting from the constituency.

Contemplating a Change

The anticipation surrounding the candidate selection for Kaiserganj has intensified due to the absence of a formal announcement from BJP. Speculations are rife that Brijbhushan Sharan Singh’s ticket could be withdrawn owing to ongoing controversies, particularly his involvement in a case related to the alleged sexual exploitation of a female wrestler.

Party Dilemma

Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, known as a stalwart in Kaiserganj, has represented the constituency in the Lok Sabha previously. However, BJP seems hesitant to field him again amidst the current circumstances. Reports suggest that the party’s leadership is exploring alternatives for the upcoming elections.

Potential Successor

Amidst the uncertainty surrounding Brijbhushan Sharan Singh’s candidacy, BJP leadership has reportedly engaged in discussions with him regarding the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat. There are indications that the party might consider nominating his younger son, Karan Bhushan Singh, as a potential replacement. Karan Bhushan Singh, if chosen, would step into the political arena alongside his elder brother Prateek, who currently serves as an MLA from BJP.

As the deadline for candidate nominations approaches, BJP’s decision regarding the Kaiserganj seat remains eagerly awaited, shaping the dynamics of the electoral landscape in Uttar Pradesh.
