BSF troops detained two illegal intruders along Indo-Pak border in Punjab’s Tarn Taran

Tarn Taran/Punjab: In a major crackdown against infiltration, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday evening arrested two youths from Punjab’s Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur trying to cross illegally the International Border (IB). A 16-year-old Pakistani national was apprehended from Tarn Taran while an Afghan national tried to enter the country from near the Gurdaspur border.

BSF caught the youth under unknown circumstances during routine border patrolling. The circumstances of the arrest and the teen’s motives remain shrouded in mystery, with authorities revealing little about the ongoing investigation. However, the BSF reported that the teenager demonstrated strong knowledge of the local area, raising many questions over his intentions and his attempt to cross.

“The motives behind their entry are under investigation and matter is being investigated from all angles by all stakeholders,” it stated in a post on X.

In a recent breakthrough, BSF successfully carried out an intelligence-based operation along the international border with Pakistan, leading to the arrest of four Indian smugglers. The operation, which began on the evening of January 29, was the result of painstaking intelligence work lasting more than a week, the BSF said in a statement.

Armed with actionable intelligence, BSF teams meticulously planned and executed the operation, including reconnaissance of possible dropping spots.

With thorough assessment and planning, BSF operational teams launched an ambush in the suspected area on the evening of 29 January. At around 11.30 pm, the ambush team heard the suspicious sound of a drone and saw three persons moving towards a packet that had just been dropped, sources said.

Along with the arrest, BSF officials also seized a mobile phone and one Pakistani rupee. 100 rupee note from the teenager. The presence of these objects along with their unusual knowledge of the area has intensified the intrigue surrounding the incident and the ongoing investigation. It is expected that the seized items will serve as important evidence during the investigation process, potentially revealing more about the teen’s background and alleged intentions.

This incident underlines the tireless efforts of BSF to maintain border security and prevent illegal activities. Despite the challenges posed by the rugged terrain and often tense geopolitical environment, the BSF remains committed to enforcing border regulations and maintaining national security. As the investigation progresses, it will provide more information about the situation and the seriousness of the threat posed by the teen’s alleged illegal crossing attempt.
