Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha Elections 2024: In a strategic shift, Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has revealed three additional candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. The party, known for its calculated electoral maneuvers, has set its sights on key constituencies with significant political ramifications.
The BSP’s decision to field Nanhe Singh Chauhan in Amethi has set the stage for an intriguing battle. Chauhan will go head-to-head against BJP stalwart Smriti Irani, who famously unseated Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 elections. The move underscores BSP’s determination to challenge entrenched political forces in the region.
In addition to the Amethi showdown, BSP has named Prathamesh Mishra and Ravi Prakash Kushwaha as its contenders in Pratapgarh and Jhansi respectively. These nominations signal BSP’s concerted effort to expand its footprint across diverse constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
However, amidst the electoral fervor, controversy has engulfed BSP’s national coordinator, Akash Anand. Anand’s alleged hate speech in Sitapur district has landed him in legal trouble, with authorities registering a case against him and the rally organizers.
Meanwhile, the BJP has seized upon the opportunity to criticize BSP’s leadership, labeling it as a “nursery of nepotism.” BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi lambasted BSP leaders for their inflammatory remarks, warning of consequences both with the Election Commission and the electorate.
Akash Anand’s fiery rhetoric at the Sitapur rally, branding the BJP government as “a government of terrorists,” has added fuel to the electoral fire. Anand’s provocative language, likening the government to the Taliban, has sparked a fresh wave of political debate and scrutiny.
