Kolkata:Amidst the Lok Sabha elections, Mamata government of West Bengal has suffered a major setback in the teacher recruitment scam. Calcutta High Court has ordered to invalidate the entire panel. The High Court has canceled the school teacher recruitment done by the West Bengal School Service Commission panel, after which 23000 teachers will have to lose their jobs.
Calcutta High Court has canceled the entire job panel of 2016. While giving the verdict, the court canceled all the appointments from class 9th to 12th and group C and D in which irregularities were found. Along with this, about 23 thousand jobs have been cancelled. There are allegations of taking bribe of around Rs 5 to 15 lakh on the panel in this recruitment. The bench of Justice Devanshu Basak of Calcutta High Court has given this decision.
Apart from this, the court has also ordered to return the salary given to the teachers. These people have been ordered to return their entire salary with 12 percent interest within four weeks. For this, the court has given 6 weeks time to the district authorities to recover the money. The High Court has also directed the School Service Commission to start new appointments again.
In this case, many TMC MLAs and leaders and many officials of the Education Department have been arrested. The then Education Minister Partha Chatterjee has also been arrested. It is being told that during the investigation, crores of rupees were recovered from the associates of Partha Chatterjee.
