CM Kejriwal sends report to LG demanding sacking of CS Naresh Kumar

New Delhi: On Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal cited Vigilance Minister Atishi’s report accusing Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar of using his position to facilitate a “profitable collaboration” between the company in which his son is a partner and ILBS, sources said. According to the sources, the Chief Minister has called for the immediate removal and suspension of the Chief Secretary.

Kejriwal received Atishi’s report on Thursday, which recommended suspension of Kumar and a CBI inquiry into the matter. Sources close to the Chief Secretary denied the allegations, claiming that his son is not a signatory to any MoU between the company and ILBS. Vigilance Minister Atishi sent a supplementary report related to this to CM Kejriwal yesterday.

Sources claimed, “He is not at all associated with the subject company as a shareholder or director or partner or employee.” The Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) denied the allegations, calling them “completely baseless and without merit”.

The ILBS statement said, “ILBS confirms that it did not issue any purchase order or make any payment to any AL software developer or company,” The vigilance minister alleged in the report that an MoU was signed between ILBS and the company of the chief secretary’s son on January 24, 2023, which “enables the company to earn profits by granting joint intellectual property rights to any intellectual property.”

The project was developed and 50 per cent of the profits were shared by both parties for future commercialization of the work. The report alleges, “Prima facie it appears that Naresh Kumar has violated All India Service Conduct Rules and used his position to enable a lucrative association for his son’s company by causing loss to the government exchequer.”
