New Delhi: On Monday, just days before the constituency goes to polls, a major setback to Congress, its Lok Sabha candidate from Indore, Akshay Bam, dropped out of the race and joined BJP. He had reached the Collector’s office with BJP MLA Ramesh Mendola to withdraw his nomination.

Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said that soon after withdrawing his nomination from Indore, Akshay Bam joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Voting for the Indore parliamentary constituency will take place in the fourth phase of the ongoing elections on May 13.

in a post on social media platform X, Senior BJP leader and state cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya extended a warm welcome to Mr Bam. In his post, he said,”Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Indore Akshay Kanti Bam is welcome in the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party national president JP Nadda, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and state president VD Sharma.”

Just days after Congress leader Nilesh Kumbhani’s nomination form for the Surat Lok Sabha seat was rejected, the latest move comes. Nilesh rejected the seat after three of his proposers appeared before the district returning officer and said the signatures on the document were not theirs.

Similarly, the nomination form of Suresh Padsala, the Congress’ alternate candidate for Surat, met the same fate for similar reasons. Mr Kumbhani, a former Surat councillor, had earlier contested the 2022 Assembly elections from the Kamrej constituency but was unsuccessful.
