Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has called for a meeting of the newly constituted CWC on September 16 in Hyderabad, as announced by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal during a press conference at the All India Congress Committee headquarters.
On September 17, an extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting will follow, with participation from all Pradesh Congress Committee chiefs. Additionally, an evening rally near Hyderabad on September 17 will witness the party unveiling its promises for the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana, according to Venugopal, who was joined by General Secretary Jairam Ramesh.
Kharge, as Congress chief, had previously restructured the CWC on August 20, maintaining a balance between the old guard and the younger generation. Notably, the reconstituted 84-member CWC includes prominent leaders from the G23 group, such as Shashi Tharoor and Anand Sharma.
The CWC, a crucial decision-making body of the party, consists of 39 regular members, 32 permanent invitees, and 13 special invitees, including 15 women. The inclusion of new faces like Sachin Pilot and Gourav Gogoi among the regular members reflects a strategic mix of experience and youth in the committee.
