The Congress party has made a strategic move in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections by nominating Kanhaiya Kumar to contest against incumbent BJP MP Manoj Tiwari in North East Delhi. This decision comes as part of a fresh list of ten candidates released by the Congress.
The Congress party has chosen Kanhaiya Kumar to run against Manoj Tiwari, the current BJP MP, in North East Delhi. This decision was part of a recent announcement of ten new candidates by the Congress.
Kanhaiya Kumar, a former leader of Jawaharlal Nehru University’s student union, is known for his grassroots support. His candidacy poses a strong challenge to Manoj Tiwari, who has held the North East Delhi seat for two terms and is a well-known Bhojpuri actor-singer.
Kanhaiya Kumar previously ran in the 2019 elections from Bihar’s Begusarai on a Communist Party of India (CPI) ticket but later joined the Congress in 2021. His entry into the race adds a fresh perspective to Delhi’s electoral landscape.
Apart from North East Delhi, the Congress has also put forward experienced leaders in other important constituencies. Charanjit Singh Channi, a former Punjab Chief Minister, will contest from Jalandhar, while Jai Prakash Agarwal, a senior leader, will stand in Chandni Chowk. These choices show the party’s strategic approach to fielding candidates with diverse backgrounds and solid chances of winning.
In addition to North East Delhi and Jalandhar, the Congress has named candidates for several other constituencies in Punjab, including Amritsar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Bathinda, Sangrur, and Patiala. Moreover, in Uttar Pradesh, Ujjwal Rewati Raman Singh has been announced as the Congress candidate for the Allahabad Lok Sabha constituency.
With these nominations, the Congress aims to strengthen its presence in crucial electoral areas and provide a strong competition to its rivals. The contest between Kanhaiya Kumar and Manoj Tiwari in North East Delhi is expected to draw significant attention as the election campaign progresses.
