In a big change, Chhindwara’s Mayor, Vikram Ahake, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after Congress MLA Kamlesh Shah did the same. This move is not good for the Congress, especially before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In Bhopal, Vikram Ahake officially became a BJP member in front of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and state BJP head VD Sharma. Ahake switched sides because he wasn’t happy with how the Congress treated the tribal community, especially by Chhindwara MP Nakul Nath.

Chief Minister Yadav said Ahake was unhappy with how Nakul Nath treated tribal leader Kamlesh Shah. Ahake leaving the Congress shows that there are problems within the party, especially in Chhindwara, which used to be a stronghold for former Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
People were talking about Kamal Nath and his son joining the BJP, but they denied it before. Now, with these defections from the Congress to the BJP, things are changing in Chhindwara. Even though the Nath family denied it earlier, these defections show that there might be issues within the party.
DrMohanYadav#CMMadhyaPradesh pic.twitter.com/8y7mZ1te82

As Chhindwara gets ready for the elections, the BJP’s gains show that politics in the region is changing. This could affect not only the local politics but also the bigger picture in the state and the country. What’s happening in Chhindwara shows how politics can change quickly and how local power can affect big elections.
