Defense Minister Rajnath Singh went to Malaysia on a three-day official visit from 10-11 July. The main objective of his visit is to deepen defense cooperation between Malaysia and India.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on a three-day visit to Malaysia

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has left for Malaysia. This visit is being done to strengthen the defense cooperation between the two countries. This visit of Rajnath Singh is going to be of two days. Before this visit, the Defense Minister has also shared information in this regard by tweeting. He tweeted that I will reach Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today on 9th July on a three-day official visit. Please inform that during this visit, Rajnath Singh will meet with his counterpart Mr. Dato’ Seri Mohd. Hassam. Bilateral talks are to be held between the two leaders. The two leaders will hold important discussions on the issue of promoting defense cooperation between the countries. Explain that Rajnath Singh and Dato Seri Mohd Hassan will discuss in detail regional and global affairs for common interest.

Deepening ties between India and Malaysia

The Defense Ministry statement said that India and Malaysia have a common interest in the peace and prosperity of the entire region. The two countries share a strong and multi-faceted relationship, which extends into several strategic areas including defense and security.

The Ministry of External Affairs said that India and Malaysia enjoy deep and cordial relations. It is to be known that in April, India and Malaysia have agreed to trade in Indian Rupee. The announcement comes against the backdrop of ongoing official efforts to shield Indian business from the impact of the Ukraine crisis. Earlier this June, Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs V Muraleedharan had met Malaysian HRD Minister V Shivakumar and they agreed to sign an MoU on opening up all sectors in Malaysia to Indian workers.
