New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to disregard his sixth summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) related to the liquor policy case, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) deeming the summons as “unlawful.” AAP stated that the ED should await the court’s decision instead of persistently issuing summonses to Kejriwal.
This marks the sixth summons sent to CM Kejriwal, with the initial summons dated November 2, 2023, followed by subsequent summonses for December 21, 2023, January 3, January 17, and February 2. The AAP leader has consistently accused the Modi government of “harassing” him through the ED summonses, asserting their illegality.
In response to the repeated non-appearance, the ED approached the court. On February 17, Kejriwal appeared before the Rouse Avenue Court via video conferencing, requesting additional time to appear in person due to the ongoing budget session. The court scheduled the next hearing for March 16.
It’s noteworthy that Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are already in custody in connection to the alleged liquor scam case. The political landscape continues to be charged as the legal proceedings unfold.
