Delhi gets two new ministers today; AAP leader Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj join cabinet

New Delhi: The swearing-in ceremony of two new ministers of Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal government was held at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi took oath as ministers at Raj Bhavan. The Chief Minister of Delhi and other members of his cabinet were also present on this occasion. Atishi will be the new Education Minister of Delhi. Apart from education, she will also handle energy and tourism departments.

On the other hand, Saurabh Bhardwaj will be the new Health Minister of Delhi. He will handle health, urban development, water and industry departments. Let us tell you that Bhardwaj has been the transport minister in Arvind Kejriwal’s first government for 49 days. Atishi, on the other hand, has been an advisor to Sisodia in the education sector. There is no possibility of getting what Manish Sisodia had earlier.

The President appointed both ministers on Tuesday

Significantly, President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday appointed Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi as ministers in the Delhi cabinet on the recommendation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Earlier, the President had accepted the resignations of AAP government’s health minister Satyendar Jain and deputy CM Manish Sisodia.

Appointment has been made after the resignation of Sisodia and Satyendar Jain.

Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain are under the scanner of ED-CBI on different charges. Both the leaders are currently in Tihar Jail. Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI last month in Delhi’s Excise Policy case after 8 hours of questioning.

At the same time, Satyendra Jain is lodged in Tihar Jail since May 30 last year in the money laundering case. Sisodia was looking after 18 out of 33 departments till his resignation. At the same time, Jain had the responsibility of 7 ministries including health, industry. Jain’s portfolios were later handed over to Sisodia.
