Delhi Mayor election today, Shaili Oberoi of AAP and Shikha Rai of BJP will contest

Mayor elections are to be held in Delhi today. The Aam Aadmi Party has fielded outgoing mayor Shelly Oberoi. On the other hand, Shikha Rai is in the fray from BJP.

Delhi Mayor Election: There is an election of mayor in the national capital Delhi today. There will be a direct contest between Shelly Oberoi of the Aam Aadmi Party and Shikha Rai, leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party. A total of 274 votes are to be cast in this election. In this, Aam Aadmi Party has 148 votes and BJP has 115 votes. According to this math, it is certain that the Aam Aadmi Party will become the mayor. Despite this, the BJP will have full emphasis that this time the number of votes should increase slightly as compared to the last election. For this, BJP has started the arithmetic of manipulations. On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party has also become alert after a councilor changed sides.

The process of election of mayor and deputy mayor will start from 11 am on Wednesday at the Delhi Corporation Secretariat Civic Center. The presiding officer Mukesh Goyal will be responsible for conducting the elections peacefully. It is believed that this time the BJP will try to increase maximum votes in the elections.

AAP is ruling in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Officials had said that two candidates have filed nominations for the mayoral election to be held on April 26, including sitting mayor Shelly Oberoi and BJP’s Shikha Rai. Shaili Oberoi was elected the Mayor of Delhi on 22 February. He defeated BJP’s Rekha Gupta by a margin of 34 votes. Shelly got 150 votes, while Rekha got 116 out of a total of 266 votes.

Total votes for mayor election- 250 corporators, 7 Lok Sabha members, 3 Rajya Sabha members, 14 MLAs

Number of votes with AAP – 132 corporators, 13 MLAs, 3 Rajya Sabha members

Number of votes with BJP – 107 corporators, 7 Lok Sabha members and 1 MLA, 2 independent corporators and 9 Congress corporators
