Delhi Police team at Arvind Kejriwal’s residence again to serve notice over ‘poaching’ claims

New Delhi: On Saturday morning, A team of the Delhi Police crime branch visited again Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to serve him a notice to join the probe into the Aam Aadmi Party’s allegations that the BJP was trying to poach their MLAs.

The team led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-level officer arrived at the official residence of chief minister in the Civil Lines area of north Delhi to serve the notice. According to sources within the Chief Minister’s Office, it was ready to accept the crime branch notice and give a receiving in return.

However, he alleged that the police were not giving him notice and had brought the media with them. The Chief Minister’s Office also alleged that the police had come ‘just to defame him’. Even on Friday evening, Crime Branch teams reached the residence of Kejriwal and Delhi Minister Atishi.

This comes days after the Delhi BJP submitted a complaint to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora in the matter. Meanwhile, sources within the crime branch said they wanted to hand over the notice to the Chief Minister personally. The two leaders, however, did not accept the notices.

Last week, the AAP had alleged the BJP has offered Rs 25 crore each to seven of its MLAs to quit the party while also threatening to topple the Kejriwal government. In a post on X, Kejriwal had made the allegations. Atishi had also alleged the BJP has launched “Operation Lotus 2.0″ in Delhi.

She said at a press conference,“They had made a similar attempt to poach AAP MLAs last year by offering them money but failed.” She said similar conspiracies were hatched by the BJP in the past also.

In 2022, they tried to break away AAP MLAs and get them to join the BJP by promising money, she added. A delegation of the Delhi BJP led by Sachdeva had on January 30 met the city police chief, seeking a probe into Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s allegations.

After meeting Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora at the Police Headquarters in Delhi, Sachdeva said Kejriwal was asked to prove his allegations but no one from the AAP has come forward with any evidence. Sachdeva had said,”This only shows that the charges levelled by the Delhi chief minister and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders were “completely baseless.”
