Devender Yadav Appointed Interim Chief of Delhi Congress Unit Ahead of Elections

The Congress party has chosen Devender Yadav as the temporary leader of its Delhi branch, a move made public through an official statement. This decision follows a period of change in leadership within the Delhi sector of the party. After Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned from his position as the head of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), former Delhi lawmakers Devender Yadav and Rajesh Lilothia have emerged as potential successors, as per DPCC sources.

According to insiders, Devender Yadav and Rajesh Lilothia were the top contenders to take over from Arvinder Singh Lovely.

Resignation and Accusations
Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned from his role as DPCC president, citing reasons such as the alliance with AAP. In his resignation letter to party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Lovely expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to ally with AAP despite objections from the Delhi Congress unit.

Responses and Accusations
AAP leader Sanjay Singh commended Lovely for the alliance with Congress in the Lok Sabha elections, giving him credit for the collaboration. However, Lovely dismissed Singh’s remarks, questioning how Singh, who was recently released from jail, was aware of his involvement in the alliance during his incarceration.

Counterclaims:
Arvinder Singh Lovely denied Sanjay Singh’s claims, stating that he wasn’t the DPCC president during the critical alliance talks. He suggested that Singh’s knowledge of his role might indicate leaks of information from within the prison.
