New Delhi: Strong tremors of earthquake were felt in Himachal Pradesh at around 10:17 pm on Tuesday. Earthquake tremors have been felt in most of the districts of the state. In many areas of the state including capital Shimla, people came out of their homes during this period. Earthquake tremors were felt two to three times. However, there is no report of any damage due to the earthquake. Earthquake tremors were felt once again in Kinnaur late at night. It is said that at 12:51 last night, tremors of magnitude 2.8 were again felt in Kinnaur.
Cracks have been reported in a government building in Mandi district. It is being told that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 156 km underground in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The intensity of the earthquake was 6.6 on the Richter scale. The tremors of the earthquake were felt all over northern India. Rajni Rani of Lanj, Kangra said that she was asleep at home. Felt as if someone was shaking them, woke up and felt the tremors of an earthquake.
Sikander Singh, a resident of Sapri village of Nagrota Suriyan panchayat Masroor, told that he was lying on the bed in his room when suddenly he felt tremors. There was also the sound of cracking of window panes. He panicked and ran outside. His pet dog was also barking loudly outside. Nisha Sharma of ward number three of Baijnath Paprola Nagar Panchayat told that she was watching TV while lying on her bed. Suddenly the bed started shaking violently. In the meanwhile she quickly came out and alerted other family members as well.
