New Delhi: On Monday, before the first phase of Lok Sabha polls, Former BJD MP Prabhas Kumar Singh joined the BJP days. He also criticised the party led by Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik and praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and
Singh said that there is no “dignity and self-respect” in the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). He has represented Odisha’s Bargarh seat in the past, when he was welcomed by BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh and other senior leaders.
Addressing a joint press conference with BJP leaders at the party headquarters here, Singh expressed happiness over joining the “world’s largest political party”. He said,”This is a special moment for me. I am very impressed with the personality of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
He claimed,”I have left the BJD (Biju Janata Dal) because there is no self-respect and dignity left there.” He also alleged lack of respect for Odia ‘asmita’ (identity), art culture and heritage in the Patnaik-led party.
He lauded Modi’s leadership and the work done by his government for various sections of society, including youth, women, farmers and the poor, in the last 10 years. After this, he told reporters,”I am fortunate (to join the BJP).”
