Expelled From Congress, Sanjay Nirupam joins Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena after 19 years

Mumbai: Political activity is increasing amid Lok Sabha elections. Before the third phase of voting, Sanjay Nirupam, expelled from Congress, joined Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena. He took membership of Shiv Sena in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Congress had expelled him for six years due to indiscipline and anti-party statements.

Let us tell you, Sanjay Nirupam worked on various posts in the Congress Party and also led the Mumbai city unit of Congress before leaving the party after differences. Congress had last month expelled Nirupam for ‘indiscipline and anti-party statements’. A few days before that, he had given ‘one week’s ultimatum’ to the party to take a decision on Mumbai North-West seat. He wanted to contest elections from this seat.

After joining Shiv Sena, Sanjay Nirupam said that, it is a matter of good fortune for me that today after 20 years I am coming back to Shiv Sena… Shiv Sena has been in my breath, we are working to strengthen Shiv Sena and the strength of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Will work to increase it. Now I don’t have to decide anything, I have faith in Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, whatever responsibility he gives me, I will fulfill it honestly.
