Former Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi passes away at the age of 86 due to health issues

New Delhi: Silvio Berlusconi, former Prime Minister of the European country Italy, has passed away. He was 86 years old. He was suffering from leukemia for some time. He was having breathing problems. His lungs were being treated in a hospital.

Berlusconi was one of Italy’s most flamboyant politicians. He served as the Prime Minister of Italy in four governments from 1994 to 1995, 2001 to 2006 and 2008 to 2011.

However, after that he remained in controversies for many years. In the year 2017, he returned to politics despite a sex scandal, numerous allegations of corruption and a conviction for tax fraud.

According to the report of The Guardian, due to deteriorating health, Berlusconi underwent treatment for six weeks in the hospital of San Raffaele in Milan in the spring of this year. He was undergoing treatment for a lung infection associated with myelomonocytic leukemia, and had to be admitted there several times.
