Gao: On Monday, Receiving an email claiming the presence of an explosive device on the premises of the Dabolim airport in South Goa. After this the authorities at Dabolim airport in South Goa were sent into a state of high alert.
A senior official said that as a precautionary measure, the security has been stepped up at the airport. Airport Director S V T Dhananjaya Rao said his office received an email in the morning regarding a bomb threat at the airport.
He said,”We are taking extra precautions now. While security has been heightened at the airport, the flight operations are unaffected.”
The Goa police were notified by the airport authorities through an official complaint. Subsequently, the bomb disposal squad was deployed to search the area.
He said,”We are not leaving any stone unturned. We are working as per the prescribed protocol.” The airport director said they were investigating the source of the email, which was also sent to other airports across the country.
