In the electoral landscape of Uttar Pradesh, Gorakhpur emerges as a pivotal battleground, setting the stage for a riveting showdown between the Bharatiya Janata Party’s dynamic leader Ravi Kishan and the Samajwadi Party’s fresh contender Kajal Nishad.
Gorakhpur, a significant Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, has historically been a stronghold for the Bharatiya Janata Party. Comprising five Assembly segments – Caimpiyarganj, Pipraich, Gorakhpur Urban, Gorakhpur Rural, and Sahajanwa – this general seat has witnessed Yogi Adityanath’s representation on five occasions, spanning from 1998 to 2014.
Reflecting on the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, BJP’s candidate and renowned actor Ravindra Shyamnarayan Shukla, popularly known as Ravi Kishan, clinched victory for the first time with an impressive margin of 3,01,664 votes. Garnering 7,17,122 votes, constituting a vote share of 60.52%, he secured a decisive win over SP candidate Rambhual Nishad, who amassed 4,15,458 votes (35.06%). Meanwhile, Congress candidate Madhusudan Tripathi trailed behind with 22,972 votes (1.94%).
In the upcoming elections, the BJP has once again nominated Ravi Kishan, banking on his previous success. Conversely, the Samajwadi Party has introduced a fresh face, Kajal Nishad, indicating a fierce contest for the Gorakhpur seat.
