Government Calls All-Party Meeting in Preparation for Winter Session of Parliament

New Delhi : Leaders of various political parties in Parliament gathered in New Delhi on Saturday to deliberate on the agenda for the upcoming Winter session scheduled to commence on December 4. The meeting, convened by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, drew the participation of prominent figures, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Gaurav Gogoi, and Pramod Tiwari, Trinamool leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay, NCP leader Fouzia Khan, and RSP leader N K Premachandran, among others.

The Winter session is set to host 15 sittings until December 22, during which critical draft legislations will be on the agenda. Notably, three bills aimed at replacing colonial-era criminal laws are anticipated to be considered during this session.

Among the significant matters scheduled for discussion on the first day of the session is the report from the Lok Sabha panel recommending the expulsion of Trinamool leader Mahua Moitra. The expulsion is based on a “cash-for-query” complaint, and the report is slated for tabling in the House on Monday.

The meeting provided a platform for leaders to discuss and strategize on various legislative priorities and issues of national importance that will shape the parliamentary proceedings in the Winter session. The engagement of leaders from diverse political backgrounds underscores the collaborative efforts required to address the nation’s legislative agenda.
