Gurugram: An official said that a retired soldier was shot dead in Gurugram on Thursday and his family member beat up the assailant, killing him. The incident happened around 2.30 pm when the police were informed that a man was shot in Khandsa village.
Official said that they had taken possession of both bodies and started investigations. The deceased was identified as Sunil Fauji.According to the police, the incident took place when 55-year-old Sunil Fauji had stepped out of his plot in Khandsa village and Dinesh alias Tinu (34) started firing at him.
Auji tried to flee from the spot but could not do so as he was hit by a bullet. He was rushed to a hospital where he died during treatment. Police said that his relative Sohit, who was with him, attacked Dinesh with an iron rod, killing him on the spot.
ACP Crime Varun Dahiya said that around 3 to 4 rounds of bullets were fired at Fauji and it seems that an old rivalry could be behind the incident. It is also being said that there was an argument between the two over something late on Wednesday night.
He said, “The retired army man died due to bullet injuries, while Dinesh died due to iron rod injury. A detailed investigation is being conducted into the matter.”
