Honduras: A horrific incident happened in the Central American country of Honduras. 12 people were killed and over two dozen others were seriously injured after a bus in Honduras skidded off a highway and fell into a gorge on Tuesday. The authorities had given this information.
The accident happened on Tuesday when the bus was passing through the highway. According to Honduran police officials, a bus carrying 60 people fell into a river about 41 kilometers from Tegucigalpa, capital of the Central American country.
Fire brigade Lieutenant Cristian Sevilla said that 12 people died in the accident, of which 10 people died at the scene and the other 2 people died in a hospital in Tegucigalpa. Apart from this, the officials said that the seriously injured were taken to the hospital with the help of ambulance and helicopter. Among the hospitalised, eight are in critical condition.
On social media, Honduran President Xiomara Castro has announced three days of national mourning across the country following the bus accident. Xiomara Castro wrote on X, “This is a tragedy that affects us all,” Castro wrote, adding that the government would cover the victims’ funeral costs.
