Hyderabad: In a major breakthrough, a woman has been arrested after a BJP worker from Hyderabad was allegedly murdered on Wednesday night in Yousufguda. The woman had allegedly lured the BJP worker into her house, where he was killed. Police suspect that the hostility between the two could have led to Ramu’s murder.
36-year-old P Ramu, a resident of Kukatpally and native of Singapatnam in Nagarkurnool, was reportedly stabbed to death on the terrace of the woman’s house by a group of eight miscreants. Ramu, who recently joined the BJP during the last Telangana Assembly elections, succumbs to multiple stab wounds and injuries to his private parts.
The key suspect has been recognised as one Manikanta, who was once a friend of Ramu but turned into his bitter rival in recent years. Manikanta was previously arrested after Ramu lodged a complaint against him in an attempt to murder case.
“We suspect that the enmity between them led to the heinous murder,” said Jubilee Hills inspector K Venkateshwar Reddy.
CCTV visuals showed proof of Ramu visiting Yousufguda at night after a conversation with the woman. He had previously resided in Yousufguda before moving to Kukatpally. The police have taken the woman into custody and are interrogating her to unearth the complete conspiracy behind the crime.
On Thursday afternoon, several people, including a history-sheeter from Borabanda named Jeelani, surrendered to the police. It remains ascertain if Manikanta was among them.
Ramu’s family had alleged a murder conspired against him a year ago due to a financial dispute with the accused. “For the past year, there have been rivalry between Ramu and his friend. On learning about the conspiracy to kill him, Ramu had attacked him,” a relative of Ramu said
