Kerala, Kannur : In a heart-wrenching turn of events, a family’s journey from Thalassery to Kasaragod came to an abrupt and tragic halt as their car collided with a lorry in Kerala’s Kannur district. The collision, which occurred around 10:15 pm on Monday in the Kannapuram area, claimed the lives of five individuals, including a nine-year-old child.
The victims were identified as KN Padmakumar (59), Choorikkatt Sudhakaran (52), Kozhummal Krishnan (65), Ajitha (35), and young Akash (9). According to police reports, four occupants of the car tragically succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while the young child’s passing was confirmed later at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.
The collision occurred as the family’s car collided with a lorry transporting gas cylinders from Mangaluru. The impact of the accident not only claimed the lives of the family members but also left the lorry driver injured. The gravity of the situation prompted immediate response from fire department officials and law enforcement authorities, who rushed to the scene to manage the aftermath.
In the wake of the tragic incident, authorities wasted no time in taking the lorry driver into custody. Initial investigations are underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the collision. Sudhakaran and his family were returning home after dropping off their son at a hostel in Kozhikode, where he is pursuing his Chartered Accountancy studies.
