In the ongoing phase 4 of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Telangana, attention turned to Hyderabad as BJP candidate Madhavi Latha made waves by personally verifying voter IDs, notably by removing burqas for identification.
Madhavi Latha, contesting from Hyderabad, caused a stir when she visited Polling Booth No. 122 in her constituency and took it upon herself to verify the IDs of Muslim women voters. Alleging discrepancies in the voter list, Latha raised concerns about deleted names and individuals listed in the wrong constituency.

Senior citizen voters are coming here but their names are deleted from the list. Despite earlier casting her own vote at a polling booth in the constituency, Latha’s actions drew attention and scrutiny, especially as she faces tough competition from MP and AIMIM candidate Asaduddin Owaisi and BRS’ Gaddam Srinivas Yadav.
Expressing her frustrations, Latha criticized the perceived lack of vigilance by police personnel at the polling station, highlighting instances where senior citizens found their names deleted from the list or misplaced in another constituency.

In response to the controversy, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy weighed in, suggesting that BJP’s actions were aimed at polarizing Muslim votes, potentially benefiting Owaisi rather than the BJP’s electoral prospects.
As polling continues across Telangana’s 17 Lok Sabha seats, candidates from various parties, including Union Minister Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and Etala Rajender from the BJP, as well as candidates from the Congress and BRS, vie for victory.
With Asaduddin Owaisi seeking reelection from Hyderabad, and Madhavi Latha making a spirited bid for the seat, the Hyderabad constituency remains a focal point of interest in this phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
