IAF’s C-17 Globemaster stuck on Leh runway due to technical fault, flight disrupted

C-17 Globemaster: On Tuesday (May 16) at the Leh airport in Ladakh, the C-17 Globemaster aircraft of the Indian Air Force got stuck on the runway due to some technical fault.

New Delhi: Indian Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster aircraft got stuck on the runway of Leh airport on Tuesday (May 16) due to some technical fault. Because of this the flights were cancelled. News agency ANI quoted Air Force officials as saying that the C-17 heavy lift transport aircraft is facing serviceability issues and is on the runway in Leh. The process of solving the problem is going on. He said that the runway is expected to be available for flight by tomorrow (May 17) morning.

Runway blocked due to aircraft

Due to C-17 Globemaster aircraft at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche airport, the runway has been blocked for the whole day and no take-off or landing could take place during this period. Due to which the flights were cancelled. Information was given by tweeting on behalf of Leh Airport on Tuesday, “Due to avoidable situation, almost all flights from the airport were canceled today.” The concerned agencies are continuously working to rectify the situation and operate flights as per schedule by tomorrow (May 17). Further updates will be shared.

Some people told their problems through Twitter. Tagging Air India, a user wrote, “Today (May 16) my flight from Leh to Chandigarh was canceled due to technical problem of IAF on the runway. At the airport I was told that an additional flight would be made available tomorrow. Now customer care is telling that no flight is available till 23rd May.
