ISRO: Scientists reached Tirupati Venkatachalapati temple before the launch of Chandrayaan-3

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has completed the 'Mission Readiness Review' (MRR) for the Chandrayaan-3 mission. And the count down for Chandrayaan-3 will start from 1 pm today.

Tirupati : A day before the Chandrayaan-3 mission, a team of scientists including Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Scientific Secretary Shantanu Bhatwadekar visited Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati Venkatachalapathi temple on Thursday and offered prayers. After offering prayers in the temple, the team of ISRO scientists said, ‘This is our mission Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon. The launch is to be held on July 14.

Earlier, ISRO on Wednesday completed the ‘Mission Readiness Review’ (MRR) for the Chandrayaan-3 mission. The national space agency said in a tweet, ‘(MRR) board has authorized the launch. The countdown will start from 1 pm on Thursday. The Space Research Organization (ISRO) also conducted a 24-hour ‘launch rehearsal’ of the entire launch preparation and process for the Chandrayaan-3 mission to be launched this week.

ISRO scientists offered prayers at Tirupati Venkatachalapathi temple in Andhra Pradesh. The scientists also took a miniature model of Chandrayaan-3 with them. Chandrayaan will land on the moon on August 24-25. For the next 14 days, the rover will rotate around the lander in 360 degrees and perform several tests. India will not only become the fourth country to send its national flag to the moon, but also the first country to reach near the south pole of the moon. This is the same area where the Moon Impact Probe was dropped during Chandrayaan-1 and ISRO detected water. The crash landing of Chandrayaan-2 took place here.

The mission will take off from the Sriharikota center on July 14 at 2:35 pm and if all goes according to plan, will land on the Moon on August 23 or 24. Earlier on Wednesday, the encapsulated assembly containing Chandrayaan-3 was attached to LVM3 at the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.

What is Chandrayaan-3?

According to ISRO officials, the Chandrayaan-3 mission is the next phase of Chandrayaan-2, which will land on the lunar surface and conduct tests. It will have a propulsion module, a lander and a rover. Chandrayaan-3’s focus is on making a safe landing on the lunar surface. New equipment has been created for the success of the mission. The algorithms have been improved. The reasons for which the Chandrayaan-2 mission could not land on the lunar surface have been focused on.
