Jammu and Kashmir: On Thursday, At least one foreign skier died after a massive snow avalanche hit Khilan Marg on Afarwat Peak Gulmarg of Jammu and Kashmir. According to initial reports, another foreigner is currently missing.
According to the information, three other foreigners were rescued and are being treated in a local hospital. After receiving information about this incident, rescue teams have rushed to the spot.
The official said the avalanche trapped at least five skiers, all of whom are foreigners. The official said,”Soon after, a massive rescue operation was launched at the site, which has so far resulted in killing of a skier and rescue of three others.”
He added,“operation is underway to look for at least one skier believed to be trapped under the snow.” The District Disaster Management Authority said the foreigners had gone to the ski slopes without local residents.
Personnel of the Army and a patrolling team of the Jammu and Kashmir administration are carrying out rescue-cum-search operations. on Wednesday, Another avalanche struck a hung area of Sonamarg on the Srinagar-Leh road, blocking the flow of water in the Sindh stream.
