Kamal Nath Confirmed as Congress Chief Ministerial Face in Madhya Pradesh: Randeep Surjewala

Congress leader Randeep Surjewala announced on Saturday that Kamal Nath would be the party’s chief ministerial face in Madhya Pradesh, given his role as the president of the state congress committee. Addressing reporters, Surjewala emphasized that the president of Pradesh Congress naturally becomes the face of the party, affirming Nath’s candidacy for the upcoming assembly elections.

Speaking about the recent Central Election Committee meeting held by Congress to finalize candidates, Surjewala indicated that decisions regarding specific seats would be made in the subsequent meeting. He underscored the demand for change among the people of Madhya Pradesh, citing concerns over rising crime against women and corruption under Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s administration.

After the meeting, Kamal Nath informed reporters that discussions had taken place concerning various candidates, but no final decisions had been reached yet. He revealed that deliberations had covered around 130-140 seats, and a decision would be made in the next 6-7 days.

Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, present at the meeting, assured that the list of candidates would be released soon, though specific details from the discussions were not disclosed.

Prominent party leaders, including Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi, attended the meeting, along with party leader KC Venugopal.
