Karnataka:Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Revanna has been sent to judicial custody till May 14. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had arrested former minister Revanna (66) on Saturday, May 4 on charges of kidnapping of a woman. A case has been registered against him at KR Nagar Police Station, Bengaluru. The court had sent him to police custody till May 8. The court had rejected his bail plea on Saturday.

A case was registered on Thursday night against Revanna, son of JD(S) founder and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, and his close aide Satish Babanna for kidnapping a woman on April 29. The case was registered on the complaint of the woman’s son who alleged that Revanna’s son and JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna had sexually exploited his mother. SIT has also detained Babanna.

Obscene videos of alleged sexual abuse of women by Prajwal Revanna had recently surfaced on social media, after which the government had constituted an SIT on April 28 to investigate the matter.

Earlier, Karnataka Women’s Commission had written a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding investigation in the matter. Prajwal (33), the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha seat, left the country on April 27, a day after voting in the constituency.
