Lok Sabha Election 2024: Ex Congress spokesperson Rohan Gupta joins BJP

New Delhi: On Thursday, Just before Lok Sabha elections 2024, Former Congress spokesperson Rohan Gupta joined the BJP in the presence of Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri and its national general secretary Vinod Tawde. Today, Rohan Gupta, along with some other leaders, joined the BJP.

Lok Sabha Election 2024: Ex Congress spokesperson Rohan Gupta joins BJP

New Delhi: On Thursday, Just before Lok Sabha elections 2024, Former Congress spokesperson Rohan Gupta joined the BJP in the presence of Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri and its national general secretary Vinod Tawde.

Today, Rohan Gupta, along with some other leaders, joined the BJP. He had resigned from the Congress last month after withdrawing his candidature from Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha constituency. Recently, another former Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh had also joined the BJP.

Gupta, who served as the national spokesperson for the Congress party, decided to withdraw from the electoral race for the Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha seat on March 19 after his candidature was confirmed by the party on March 12. Gupta had blamed his ‘constant humiliation and character assassination by a leader connected with communication department’ of the Congress for his decision and cited this as the reason for his exit from the party.

Rohan Gupta, in a post on X, said he was upset with senior leaders associated with the Congress’ communication department. Gupta wrote in his resignation letter shared on X, His father, who is battling a serious health condition, described incidents of betrayal and sabotage within the Congress over the past 40 years.

Gupta was one of the 43 candidates announced by the Congress on March 12, including seven from Gujarat. Gujarat will go to polls on May 7 in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections.Counting of votes will take place on June 4. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP had won all 26 seats in the state.
