Lok Sabha Elections: New Voting Date Announced for Betul Constituency After BSP Candidate’s Dies

The Election Commission (EC) has made a significant decision to postpone the Lok Sabha election in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul constituency. Originally slated for April 26, the polling will now take place on May 7 in the third phase of the elections. This adjustment comes following the unfortunate demise of BSP candidate Ashok Bhalavi, prompting a legal adjournment under Section 52 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

New Voting Date Announced for Betul Constituency

New Voting Date Announced for Betul Constituency. Bhalavi’s passing on April 9 led to the postponement of the election. Because BSP is an important national party, the Election Commission decided to move the date to give them time to choose a new candidate.

In Betul, the current MP Durga Das Uikey from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is running again, while the Congress has nominated Ramu Tekam. Originally, Betul was supposed to vote on April 26, but now it’s happening on May 7 with other areas.

The national Lok Sabha elections start on April 19 and end with counting on June 4. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi aiming for another term, over 97 crore people have the chance to vote across 10.5 lakh voting booths during this long process that goes on for 44 days. The following rounds are on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.
