In a revelation accompanying her nomination papers, Union Minister Smriti Irani has disclosed an increase in her assets since the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Representing the BJP, Smriti Zubin Irani, along with her affluent husband Zubin Irani, has divulged their combined assets in the nomination papers. The affidavit unveils a notable augmentation in their wealth, totaling Rs 17 crore, juxtaposed with Rs 11 crore reported during the 2019 elections, marking a remarkable surge of approximately Rs 6 crore over the past five years.

Election Dynamics in Uttar Pradesh

Union Minister Smriti Irani has submitted her nomination from the Amethi Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, where she is contesting for the third consecutive time under the BJP banner. Her electoral journey began in 2014, where she faced defeat against Rahul Gandhi, only to clinch victory in 2019. Amidst this electoral backdrop, Smriti Irani has unveiled details about her financial assets in the nomination affidavit.

Financial Details

Breaking down their assets, Smriti Irani reports assets worth Rs 8.75 crore, while her husband Zubin Irani’s assets stand at Rs 8.82 crore. Notably, the affidavit lists properties in Amethi as their primary address, diverging from their previous declaration of Delhi as their residence.

Liquid Assets and Investments

Cash reserves are disclosed, with Smriti Irani holding Rs 1.09 lakh and her husband with Rs 3.22 lakh. Bank deposits are significant, with Smriti having Rs 25.48 lakh and her husband Rs 39.49 lakh. Furthermore, investments in bonds amount to Rs 88.15 lakh for Smriti and Rs 49.15 lakh for her husband.

Other Assets and Debts

The affidavit outlines investments in post office deposits, totaling Rs 30.78 lakh for Smriti and Rs 3.5 lakh for her husband. Notably, Smriti Irani’s jewelry is valued at Rs 37 lakh 48 thousand 440. However, despite their wealth, Smriti Irani has disclosed a loan of Rs 16 lakh 55 thousand 830 from HDFC Bank, contrasting with her debt-free status in 2019.while vehicle valuations stand at Rs 27.86 lakh for Smriti and Rs 4.7 lakh for her husband.

While Smriti Irani’s assets have increased over the years, her husband remains wealthier and without any debts. The couple’s financial portfolio reflects a steady growth in wealth.
