The week-long Vedic rituals leading to the consecration of Lord Ram at the Ayodhya temple are in full swing. As we reach the fifth day, significant ceremonies unfold, including the ‘Annadhivas’ ritual and the upcoming ‘Netronmelan’ ceremony.

Lord Ram Ayodhya Temple: Pran-Pratistha Rituals Day 5

Lord Ram Ayodhya Temple: Pran-Pratistha Rituals Day 5. The sanctum santorum, housing the newly installed idol of Lord Ram, undergoes a purification process today. The holy water from the Saryu river is used to cleanse the sanctum santorum, setting the stage for the ‘Vaastu shanti’ and ‘Annadhivas’ rituals.

In accordance with Vedic traditions, ‘Vaastu shanti’ aims to attain harmony from the elements—sky, water, earth, fire, and air—each holding significance in Vaastu shastra. This ritual ensures the removal of any lingering defects, addressing concerns even after the Vaastu puja conducted on January 18.

A pivotal moment approaches as January 22 marks the date for the pran-pratistha ceremony, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the ceremonial installation of Ram Lalla. The temple will open for ‘darshan’ for the general public starting January 23.

Scheduled for January 22, this ceremony involves applying honey to a gold bar to uncover the idol’s eyes. Govind Dev Giri, a member of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, explains that this process gives the appearance of ‘kajal’ to onlookers.
