LSG vs MI, IPL 2023: Lucknow out of the tournament, Mumbai now face Gujarat in Qualifier-2

New Delhi: In the only qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), Mumbai Indians have shown the way out of the tournament by defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs. In the match played at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, Rohit and Company scored 183 runs after winning the toss and batting first. In reply, the Lucknow team was all out for 101 runs in 16.3.

With this, the journey of Lucknow ended here in this tournament. Marcus Stoinis scored the maximum 40 runs from Lucknow. But apart from him, no other batsman could do anything special. Mumbai’s hero in this match was Akash Madhwal, who took 5 wickets for 5 runs in 4 overs.

Earlier, batting first, Mumbai Indians set a target of 183 runs to win against Lucknow Super Giants. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, both Mumbai openers Ishan Kishan (15) and Rohit Sharma (11) returned to the pavilion cheaply, but from here Cameron Green (41) and Suryakumar Yadav (33) anchored the wicket. But both could not convert their innings into big innings.

But the good thing for Mumbai was that Tilak Verma (26) and especially in the last over, Nehal Wadhera (23) tried their best to justify the selection as an impact player. Mumbai scored 14 runs in Yash Thakur’s last over. And with this, the Indians were able to reach a score of 182 for 8 wickets in 20 overs of the quota. Naveen-ul-Haq took four wickets for Lucknow.

The XI of both the teams playing in the match are as follows:

Lucknow: Krunal Pandya, Ayush Padoni, Deepak Hooda, Prerak Mankad, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Krishnappa Gautam, Ravi Bishnoi, Naveen-ul-Haq, Yash Thakur, Mohis Khan

Mumbai: Rohit Sharma (captain), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Tim David, Nehal Wadhera, Chris Jordan, Ritik Shokeen, Piyush Chawla, Jason Behrendorff, Akash Madhwal
