Mumbai: Ganpat Gaikwad, a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA opened fire at a Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) faction leader Mahesh Gaikwad in Ulhasnagar of Maharashtra on Friday night. The incident happened inside the cabin of a senior cop at the Hill Line police station where the two politicians and their supporters had gathered to file a complaint over a long-standing land dispute.
Mahesh Gaikwad and one of his supporters were hit by five bullets, according to eyewitnesses. Both Shiv Sena leaders are currently receiving treatment at the Jupiter Hospital in Thane. Shiv Sena MLA Mahesh Gaikwad has been badly injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment at Thane’s Jupiter Hospital.
According to the information, an official said that BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad and city chief Mahesh Gaikwad were talking in the hall of senior inspector Anil Jagtap of Hill Line Police Station on Friday, when supporters of BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad clashed with each other and opened fire on Mahesh Gaikwad. . ,
DCP Sudhakar Pathare said,”Mahesh Gaikwad and Ganpat Gaikwad had differences about something, and they came to the police station to make a complaint. At that time, they talked, and Ganpat Gaikwad fired at Mahesh Gaikwad and his people. Two people have been injured in this. An investigation is underway.”
The Shiv Sena leader’s supporters have gathered at the Jupiter Hospital and tension prevails in the city.
Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey, commenting on the incident, alleged that “Maharashtra is being turned into a jungle raj.
He took on the ‘3-engine government’ and said that “This firing has taken place inside the police station. The one who opened fire was BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad, and the one who was shot at was Shiv Sena Shinde Faction leader Mahesh Gaikwad.”
He added,” It is unfortunate that an MLA who needs to work for the welfare of lakhs of people is shooting people. In the 3-engine government, leaders of two parties are fighting and trying to kill each other.” Meanwhile, Ganpat Gaikwad has been arrested and taken into police custody. The gun he used has also been seized by the police.
