Maharashtra: Police killed 3 Naxalites in Gadchiroli encounter

New Delhi: An encounter broke out between security forces and Naxalites in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district on Sunday. During this, three Naxalites including the Dalam commander were killed. According to the information, the encounter took place in Kedmara forest around 9 pm.

New Delhi: An encounter broke out between security forces and Naxalites in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district on Sunday. During this, three Naxalites including the Dalam commander were killed.

According to the information, the encounter took place in Kedmara forest around 9 pm. Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police (SP) Nilotpal said that the police had received a tip-off that members of Perimili and Aheri Dalam of Naxalites were camping in a forest area between Mane Rajaram and Perimili armed outposts.

After this, a search operation was conducted.He said that acting on the information, two units of the C-60 force of the police were sent for a search operation in the jungle area. Naxalites fired at the police team during the search operation.

After this, the police retaliated. After the encounter, dead bodies of three Naxalites were recovered from the spot. A large quantity of arms and other materials have also been recovered.

According to preliminary investigation, one of the dead has been identified as Bitlu Madavi, commander of Perimili Dalam. Two others have been identified as Vasu of Perimili Dalam and Srikanth of Aheri Dalam. Madavi was the main accused in the murder of student Sainath Narote on March 9 this year. There was a bounty of Rs 38 lakh on the killed Naxalites. A search operation is underway in the area.
