Kolkata: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee suffered serious injuries after she fell near her residence, following which she was swiftly rushed to the state-run SSKM Hospital in Kolkata. The chief minister received stitches and was later discharged from the hospital. The incident, which left Banerjee with a deep wound on her forehead, has sparked a wave of concern and well wishes among political figures across India.
The chief minister was taken to her residence after necessary tests were conducted. Ms Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee and other family members accompanied her.
After the accident, Mamata Banerjee was immediately admitted to SSKM Hospital, where the injury on her forehead was stitched. Visuals shared on social media showed visible injuries to the Chief Minister, indicating the seriousness of the fall. Despite the worrying nature of the incident, she was later discharged and taken to his residence along with his nephew and TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, indicating a stable condition.
This is not the first time that Mamata Banerjee has faced health challenges due to accidents. He suffered injuries to his left leg after making an emergency helicopter landing amid bad weather in June last year. She suffered another injury while she was in Spain in September, causing an infection in an already injured leg.
