Man Murders Woman in Delhi, Forces 10-Year-Old Son to Clean Up Blood: Police

Delhi: A 28-year-old man, Sanjay Singh, allegedly murdered a 30-year-old woman in Dwarka, Delhi, after an argument over her talking to “other men” on the phone. Police officials revealed that Singh then pushed the victim down a flight of stairs and later made her 10-year-old son clean up the blood at the crime scene.

Details of the Crime

The accused, Sanjay Singh, reportedly arrived at the victim’s house in Dwarka’s Sector 23 on Friday, posing as her cousin while her husband was away. He was in an extramarital relationship with the victim, as per investigating officers.

The murder occurred early on Saturday morning, following a confrontation between Sanjay and the victim over her alleged interactions with other men. Sanjay admitted to police that he suspected her of having other relationships.

After a heated argument, Sanjay strangled the woman and then pushed her down a flight of stairs. The victim’s two children, aged 10 and eight, were asleep upstairs during the altercation.

Forcing the Child to Clean the Crime Scene

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed in the case, Sanjay woke up the victim’s 10-year-old son and convinced him that his mother had tripped and fallen down the stairs, resulting in her death. The child, believing Sanjay, was coerced into cleaning the blood near the body.

“The 10-year-old cleaned the blood near the body and then threw the blood-soaked washcloth in the dustbin,” stated the FIR.

Discovery and Arrest

The victim was discovered lying next to the stairs on Saturday morning by neighbors, who rushed her to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Doctors noted multiple marks on her head and neck during the examination.

Despite Sanjay’s attempts to pass off the incident as an accident, police investigations and the post-mortem report revealed “strangulation/ligature marks” on the victim’s neck, indicating deliberate violence.

Upon discovering broken bangles, the victim’s slippers, and a blood-stained cloth in the dustbin, police further probed Sanjay’s connection to the crime scene. Witnesses stated that Sanjay was a frequent visitor to the woman’s house.

Confession and Police Response

Sanjay was arrested at the victim’s house and confessed to the murder during questioning by police officers.

“In the FIR, it is stated that on the night of the incident, he found the woman talking on the phone with someone else. When he confronted her, she dismissed his questions. Sanjay admitted to dating the woman for four years as her husband often stayed out of town for work,” police officials stated.

Sanjay admitted to strangling the woman and staging the scene to appear as an accident.

Police confirmed that the 10-year-old boy, who was frightened and believed Sanjay’s story, will receive counseling and be questioned to establish the sequence of events.
