Mumbai: A singer and lyricist from Manipur has been kidnapped by miscreants. According to the information, the armed miscreants fired at the singer’s wife and mother. After this, they kidnapped the singer and took him with them.
According to the police, the incident happened on Friday (December 29). Manipur singer Akhu Chingangbam was kidnapped at gunpoint by armed miscreants. Singer Akhu Chingangbam, a resident of Khurai, Imphal East, has been kidnapped by miscreants.
Chingangbam is a songwriter-singer and the founder of a local rock band called Imphal Talkies. It should be noted that since May 3, communal violence has been going on between the Maitei and Kuki communities in Manipur. Hailing from Khurai in Imphal East, Akhu Chingangbam is not only a singer and lyricist but also the founder of the folk rock band ‘Imphal Talkies.’
Fortunately, following this harrowing experience, Akhu Chingangbam has been released. As per sources, the kidnap was over some of his comments on social media. The region of Manipur has been grappling with ethnic tensions between the Meiteis and the Kukis since May 3.
