Mathura: Stones pelted at Ambedkar Jayanti procession in Mathura; 11 Injured

Mathura: In Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura, the city of Lord Krishna, 11 people were injured in caste clashes during the Ambedkar Jayanti procession on Friday. Protest, which started with abusing, this ruckus increased so much that both sides came in front of each other with bricks and stones. After stone pelting for about half an hour, the police reached the spot. Light force was used. After this, peace could be established on the spot. In this regard, the Mathura police has started investigating the matter by taking Tahrir from both the sides.

One section of people climbed on the roof and threw bricks and stones, glass bottles, and in response the other side also pelted stones. In this, 11 villagers including three soldiers were injured. Police has detained five people. The situation in the village remains tense. Police force has been deployed.

The incident is of Nagla Bhartia in Jaintpur police station area of ​​Mathura. Mathura’s SP City Martand Prakash Singh told that at present there is complete peace in the village. Adequate police force has been deployed in the village. At the same time, the matter is being investigated on the basis of CCTV footage and video footage. He told that the people of Jatav community had taken permission from the administration for this procession. But as soon as his procession reached the locality of Thakurs, people stopped it.

Clashes, fighting and stone-pelting have taken place on both sides regarding this matter. He told that the police has established peace on the spot by driving out the unruly elements from both the sides. On the other hand, according to the local people, Dr. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary was being celebrated in the village. A procession was organized by his followers on this occasion. It is being told that the people of Thakur community had objection regarding the sloganeering of this procession. In such a situation, as soon as this procession reached the locality of Thakurs, a ruckus started.

It is also being told that the police was also running along with the procession. The police tried to intervene in the initial phase itself, but the unruly elements overpowered the police. In such a situation, after some time, additional police were called from the police station and police line. After this, the police chased the rioters by using mild force. According to SP City Martand Prakash Singh, both sides have given a complaint regarding this incident.

The police has started the investigation of the case on the basis of the Tahrir of both the parties. Apart from this, along with the footage of the CCTV cameras installed at the incident site and the video cameras of the organizers, the footage of the mobile cameras of the people present at the incident site has been captured. He told that at present peace is prevailing in the village. Despite this, adequate police force has been deployed in the village as a precautionary measure.
