Mexico: At least 18 people dead as bus falls off cliff

Mexico: A terrible road accident has occurred in western Mexico. At least 18 people died tragically while 33 others were injured when a bus fell into a deep ditch. Local officials informed about this incident.

The stricken bus was carrying tourists to Guayabitos when it fell off a cliff in Compostela, Nayarit state, local officials said. As soon as the incident was reported, the emergency personnel immediately reached the spot and started the relief and rescue programme.

According to officials, 11 women and 7 men have died in the bus accident. At least 11 minors seriously injured in the accident have been admitted to hospitals.

The prosecutor’s office of the state of Nayarit in western Mexico, where this terrible bus accident took place, has informed about the incident. The tourist bus plunged into a ditch about 50 feet deep on the national highway connecting the state capital Tepic and the tourist destination of Puerto Vallarta, the office said.

The prosecutor’s office released a statement saying it has coordinated with various federal and state authorities to provide immediate attention to the defense of the victims.
