AHMEDABAD: In the case of Morbi Bridge accident, the Gujarat High Court has awarded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the deceased and Rs 2 lakh to each of the injured. The Gujarat High Court gave this order to Oreva Group on Wednesday. The court pronounced this judgment on the demand of the victims in which they demanded fair compensation. He had said that he should be compensated on the lines of the Bhopal gas tragedy or the Uphaar fire.
Orewa Group had offered Rs 5 crore as compensation to the victims. Now the High Court has ordered Oreva Group to pay Rs 10 lakh each to all the dead and Rs 2 lakh to each of the injured. On October 30, 135 people lost their lives and 56 were injured when a bridge collapsed in Morbi.
A bench of Chief Justice Sonia Gokani and Justice Sandeep Bhatt pronounced this important verdict while hearing the Morbi incident for the second day in a row. The High Court has given this decision to Anjata Company. Anjata Watch Company is the oldest and flagship company of Oreva Group. The High Court has given this interim order. Earlier, Chief Justice Sonia Gokani took information about the ongoing investigation in this case.
Jaysukh Patel, MD and promoter of Oreva Group, has been lodged in Morbi Sub Jail since police custody was completed. An FIR was registered by the police after this major accident. In this, the police arrested nine people associated with the Oreva group, and later added the name of Jaisukh Patel as an accused.
Jaisukh Patel surrendered before the court after the police presented the charge sheet. After this the police took custody. Jaisukh Patel is in jail since the completion of custody. In this case, the police has submitted a charge sheet of total 1262 pages in the Morbi court. The trial on the charge sheet of the police is also expected to start soon in the Morbi court.
