MP: 14 Injured after argument over Dalits entry to Shiva Temple turns into violence; Case registered against 17

In both the cases, the police have registered a case and the investigation is on. There were separate cases in Sanawad and Kasrawad villages and action has been taken in both the cases.

Bhopal: In Sanawad and Kasrawad of Khargone district in Madhya Pradesh, on the day of Mahashivaratri, the influential people of the village allegedly stopped the women of Dalit community from worshiping in the Shiva temple. In the incident in Sanawad, there was heavy stone-pelting on both sides, in which 14 people were injured. In fact, in Chhapra village of Sanawad tehsil, people of Gurjar community had filed a report against 6 people of Dalit community for cutting down a banyan tree near the temple for 5 days, due to which there was tension in the village.

On the day of Mahashivaratri, when the girls from the Dalit community came to worship, they were allegedly stopped by Bhaiyalal Patel and others from the Gurjar community. Meanwhile, some youths from the Dalit community came there. Due to this, both the sides pelted stones at each other. Police has registered a case.

On the other hand, in another case, the Balai Samaj in Chhoti Kasrawad village of Kasrawad police station, about 40 km from Khargone district headquarters, alleges that influential women of the village assaulted them and casteist abuses were given to them.

Complainant Manjubai told in her complaint that after worshiping Ganesha on Mahashivratri festival, she had gone to offer water to Shiva. There was overcrowding. There was a slight scuffle over offering water. On this matter Reena Bai Rajput, Sani Bai Rajput, Bhuri Prajapati, Lakshmi Prajapati pushed him and beat him.

Five people have been named in a police case, including charges under the caste discrimination law, the police said.

“The temple was overcrowded due to Maha Shivratri in Chhoti Kasrawad because of which there was a dispute among women. One side has complained about 5 people whose statements are being recorded,” senior police officer Manohar Singh Gawli said.
