North Korea has fired two short-range ballistic missiles towards the East Sea following a joint US-South Korea air exercise. This is the second attack within 48 hours. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said the launch was detected at 7 a.m. from North Korea’s Sukhon area. North Korea said it fired two projectiles at targets 395 km and 337 km away.
The test by North Korea comes a day after the US and South Korea conducted joint air drills on Sunday as part of the B-1B strategic partnership. However, South Korea has said it will maintain close ties with the US while strengthening its surveillance and vigilance.
According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), during the exercise, South Korea’s F-35A stealth fighters and F-15K jets along with US F-16 fighter jets attempted to intercept B-1B aircraft entering the air defense detection area.
North Korea tested a dangerous long-range missile on Saturday. He said that the purpose of this test is to further increase its capability of lethal nuclear strike against rivals.
