Objection Lodged Against Revision Petition in Varanasi Court for Case Involving Akhilesh and Owaisi

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi filed a response on Monday to the criminal revision petition initiated by senior advocate Harishankar Pandey. This comes after his petition, which sought to file a case against Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Owaisi for their alleged remarks on the purported ‘Shivling’ in Gyanvapi mosque compound, was dismissed by the court of additional chief judicial magistrate-V (MP-MLA) on February 15. The reply was submitted before the court of additional district judge-IX.

Objection Lodged Against Revision Petition in Varanasi Court for Case Involving Akhilesh and Owaisi

Advocate Ehtesham Abdi, representing All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi, lodged an objection in the court of additional district judge (IX) in Varanasi.

On Monday, an objection was submitted in a Varanasi court opposing a revision petition that called for police to register a case against seven individuals, including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, along with his brother.

The allegations relate to purportedly causing harm to religious sentiments.

The next hearing date was scheduled for November 29 by the court. On Monday, advocate Ehtesham Abdi, representing All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi, filed the objection in the court of additional district judge (IX), Varanasi.

An objection had previously been submitted on November 17 by Anuj Yadav, the counsel for Samajwadi Party chief.

Senior advocate Harishankar Pandey submitted a revision petition to the Varanasi district court on March 4. This followed the rejection of his plea by the court of additional chief judicial magistrate-V (MP-MLA) in May 2022.

The initial plea sought a directive to the police to register a case against seven individuals, including SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi, Mufti-e-Banaras Maulana Abdul Batin Nomani, secretary Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Committee, joint secretary SM Yasin, Maulana Abdul Vagi, and Yusuf Khan.

In the petition submitted in May 2022, Pandey stated that the Shivling was discovered in Wazukhana of Gyanvapi during the court-mandated survey on May 16.

The report from the court commission was presented before the district judge’s court on May 19.

Pandey made an allegation, stating, “Muslim devotees were spreading filth in the Wajukhana of Gyanvapi. It was brought to public attention through social media and TV that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi, and his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi made objectionable remarks regarding the ‘Shivling’ found in Wajukhana.”
