As of December 12, more than 27 lakh individuals in Uttar Pradesh have reaped the advantages of the One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme, significantly boosting the revenue of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) by over ₹2,600 crores, as per an official statement on Wednesday.
Notably, in cases related to electricity theft, the scheme has attracted participation from more than 54,000 individuals, resulting in a revenue of over ₹180 crores for the department.
Launched under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on November 8, the OTS Scheme is operational until December 31. It caters to two specific categories: OTS Normal and OTS Theft, the latter addressing individuals with pending electricity theft charges. The scheme unfolds in three phases across 54 days from November 8 to December 31, 2023. The initial phase ran from November 8 to November 30, followed by the ongoing second phase from December 1 to December 15. The third and final phase will continue from December 16 to December 31.
“In total, the department has successfully collected ₹2,615.48 crores through registrations from a cumulative count of 27,28,786 registered consumers across all four discoms. Additionally, on December 12 alone, 1,11,771 consumers registered for the scheme, contributing ₹110.70 crores to the fund under the scheme,” the spokesperson added, emphasizing the scheme’s robust success and financial impact.
